Old Glossop 1st XI continued their winning start to the season with victory against Charlesworth at the weekend.
Asked to bat first Old Glossop were well set at 70 for 2 after 20 overs, having recovered from losing White (0) and Donnelly (32). Paul Eyre batted sensibly for his 26 and in tandem with the middle order moved the score onto 100 before being bowled by the impressive Morley (5 for 54).
Wardle (4 for 49) for Charlesworth tempted several batsmen into ill judged shots with his style of slow bowling and Old Glossop were now in trouble at 113 for 9, with 10 overs still remaining, and the 200+ total which was looking likely now a long way in the distance.
However the last Old Glossop pairing of Adderley (28 no) and Cooper (8) batted with control and moved the final total to 150 before Cooper was bowled by Morley in the final over.
In reply Craig Cooper claimed the wicket of dangerous opener Abbott in his first over, with Lenny Allsopp scooping a great catch at point. Old Glossop skipper Andy King at the other end claimed the wicket of his counterpart Elliott and Charlesworth were rocking at 9 for 2.
Wickets continued to fall with young Adderley replacing Cooper and rounding off a good all round personal display with 3 for 21.
Old Glossop were well on top at this point and refused to let Charlesworth back into the game with wickets falling at both end. With over 20 overs remaining, Andy King (6 for 14) claimed the final wicket to secure victory.
